PE teacher training and resources to help your school's children run, jump and throw

Is your school facing even greater challenges with PE provision due to Covid-19 restrictions not allowing you to bring external PE providers into your school?

Do you want your school to move past the lack of PE during Lockdown, with both physical literacy and whole child development combined in one programme with a fundamental movement skills focus, and fun at its heart?

Whatever the challenge or stage in your PE provision, England Athletics and its athletics-based PE teaching training offer, or its fundamental movement skills programme – funetics – is here to help.

In these challenging times keeping children active and healthy has never been more important.

And as the grassroot membership body for athletics and running in England we see these needs first hand both in our member clubs, our school teacher training courses, and working with our partner providers supporting us with the roll-out of funetics – our new fundamental movement skills programme for primary school children.

And now, we have come to learn of a new challenge schools may be facing due to Covid-19 social distancing guidance - preventing them from engaging external parties in the school. England Athletics and funetics want you to know we can help both with this latest challenge, and a school's aspirations on behalf of their children going forward.

And maybe we can help inspire and excite both your teachers and children?

With the support of Commonwealth and World Heptathlon Champion KJT and the world's fastest man Usain Bolt, our inspirational funetics programme will allow your children to access running, jumping and throwing at an early age.

If your school can engage external support or you wish to supplement the above teacher training with a new digital tracking platform, funetics is your PE future.

What is funetics?

funetics is an athletics-based physical literacy programme, created by England Athletics to help 4-11 year old children across the country to learn, develop and practise the fundamental athletics skills of running, jumping and throwing, all year round.

Funetics support is available in 4 key areas:

We have a team of trained coaches who can deliver funetics lessons during breakfast, curriculum and after school clubs.

Training and support
We can provide access to a one-day teacher training course and further mentoring support.

We have a suite of resources including lesson plans, schemes of work and access to a digital platform that tracks and assesses a child against the funetics programme stages.

Kit and equipment
We have a range of kit and equipment that can support the delivery of funetics within your school.
