funetics’ Commonwealth Games Legacy programme expands into Lewisham

England Athletics is pleased to announce that they are expanding their funetics Commonwealth Games Legacy programme to the London Borough of Lewisham from July 2023.

Funded through Sport England, the Legacy programme is a direct response from the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and is designed to super-charge the delivery of funetics to thousands of children and young people aged 4-11 years at both track and field athletics clubs and within community settings.

Further to the ongoing success of the Legacy programme in Birmingham and surrounding areas, Sport England has awarded funetics with additional funding to extend the free-to-access support to primary school-aged children in Lewisham, to develop their fundamental movement skills in Run, Jump, & Throw.

Funetics will provide a fully inclusive athletics offer, engaging with trusted and respected partners in and around Lewisham and will embed funetics into track and field clubs, schools, and communities, through Funetics satellite centres, after-school clubs, and holiday camps.

Training will be provided to upskill Coaches from the world of athletics and Leaders and Coaches from other National Governing Body sports.

Funetics will also recruit a full-time legacy activator to lead the Legacy programme rollout and support partners in Lewisham – anyone interested in applying for this position can access full details on the England Athletics website.
